About

Amy Gumbrell – host of Help! My Website Sucks

I’m a freelance web designer and in 2020, I decide to make the move from teaching languages to helping businesses get their websites sorted. I quickly realised that whilst the businesses knew everything about their services and products, they struggled to get their head around web design which made designing them a new website or revamping what they already had, an interesting challenge!

I wanted to create a helpful support resource to act as a bank of frequently asked questions that my customers can access whenever convenient to them. However I didn’t want the resource to be exclusive or only for people who I work with – sharing is caring and as a freelancer, I truly understand the value of community. Therefore I wanted a resource that could be accessible for all and so the podcast Help! My Website Sucks was born!

Topics I discuss

Web design is such a vast area to cover but I’ll be focussing on the following in the first series:

Advantages of having a website for your business

Basic technical requirements for setting up a website

Types of websites and what is going to work for you

Helpful CoLlaborators

This podcast wouldn’t have seen the light of day without the following wonderful freelancers:

Charles Commins – Vibrant Sound Media – Full production of podcast plus many many kicks up the proverbial derrière to get the first series finished! Very patient and most importantly knows his way around a podcast from start to finish.

Helen Hill – Unlikely Genius – The podcast artwork is amazing and with its retro feel is perfect for a self-professed retro gamer like me! She also designed my logo too – apparently doodling cartoon cows was a tad different to the normal client brief.
